Book one use of a function space: a window on a date, a setup style, and the expected attendance, tentative unless asked for definite. Refused when the space (or its combined room, or any of its sections) already has a live event overlapping the setup-to-teardown window, when the space is not active, or when the expected count exceeds the room’s capacity in that style. A group_block_id makes it the group’s event; charges then post to the block’s master folio by default.

Apply against an open branch’s overlay view instead of the canonical (main) plane. The action’s writes land in the branch’s copy-on-first-write overlay, its events in the branch’s own stream, and the invocation is journaled for merge-by-replay.
