Tune a draft or paused automation’s parameters — display name, description, the object-set filter, the modified-property watch, the cron expression, the effect templates, execution mode, approval routing, and the cascade-depth guard. Structural identity (condition kind, effect kind, watched object type, effect action/function) is immutable — to change it, archive and redefine. Refused on an active or archived automation (pause first). Only provided parameters are patched. Emits automation.updated.

Apply against an open branch’s overlay view instead of the canonical (main) plane. The action’s writes land in the branch’s copy-on-first-write overlay, its events in the branch’s own stream, and the invocation is journaled for merge-by-replay. Branch writes are action-only, so this is the write-side entry point to a branch (POST /v1/branches forks one).
